Ayden commissioners amend town’s vacant building code

“As you recall, when we first looked at the ordinance, I said I hoped we never collected a single $1,000 fee because the idea was to increase activity downtown,” Langley said. “I believe we’ve motivated owners. I think we need to have a fee for the first year because it shows we’re very serious about vacant buildings downtown. … We need the fee to keep people motivated.”
