Vacant buildings to get regular inspections in Albany
Starting next month, property owners registering vacant buildings must allow Albany inspectors inside the buildings to assess the deterioration on a regular basis and ensure measures are taken to protect the property from further decay. “This will reduce instances of emergency stabilization or demolition,” said Common Council member Owusu Anane, who worked with the city building and codes director Rick LaJoy on the revisions.
